Quintral Demetrices Jones, a 28-year-old resident of Oklahoma City, has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for drug and firearm charges. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester.
The charges stem from an incident on December 18, 2022, when Oklahoma City Police responded to a shooting in Bricktown. Surveillance footage revealed Jones firing a weapon from a vehicle at another occupied car. Officers later found cocaine and the firearm used in the shooting inside the vehicle Jones occupied.
A federal Grand Jury indicted Jones on December 19, 2023, with three counts: possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, illegal possession of a firearm after a felony conviction, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. On June 24, 2024, Jones pleaded guilty to these charges.
During the sentencing on November 19, 2024, U.S. District Judge Bernard M. Jones emphasized the gravity of the offense due to the use of a firearm and distribution-level quantities of cocaine. He also noted Jones's extensive criminal history involving guns and drugs as factors influencing his decision.
Jones's past convictions include concealing stolen property and marijuana possession (CF-2014-5742), unauthorized vehicle use and other offenses (CF-2014-6402), second-degree burglary (CF-2014-6451), and similar drug-related charges (CF-2017-6174).
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives alongside the Oklahoma City Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Stan J. West prosecuted it under "Operation Shots Fired," which targets crimes involving firearms discharge during criminal activities.
