The United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado has announced the indictment of Marquis Taylor, 28, and Elijah Woods, 21. Both men face charges from a federal grand jury, including conspiracy, assault with intent to rob a U.S. Postal Carrier, and mail theft.

Court documents reveal that in September 2023, Taylor, Woods, and Dravell Emon Ross, 28, carried out a robbery targeting a postal carrier on duty during her lunch break. The incident occurred near Utah Park in Aurora during daylight hours. The assailants attempted to acquire a universal mailbox key but failed to do so. However, they managed to steal various pieces of mail, packages, and a postal scanner. The postal carrier sustained minor injuries from the encounter.

Ross received a four-year federal prison sentence on July 17, 2024, for his involvement in the robbery. Taylor was apprehended on November 13, 2024; he remains detained pending trial. Meanwhile, Woods has been released on bond as charges are still pending against him. Their trial is set for March 31, 2025, in federal district court.

The investigation is being conducted by the United States Postal Inspection Service with Assistant United States Attorney Tim Neff handling the prosecution.
