Oklahoma man pleads guilty to possessing explosives as a felon

Steven William Burden, a 46-year-old resident of Henryetta, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to the charge of being a felon in possession of an explosive. This announcement was made by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

According to the indictment, Burden was found in possession of thirty-one semi-gelatin dynamite sticks on November 16, 2020. This occurred after he had been previously convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year in prison.

The investigation leading to this charge involved multiple agencies including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, and the Tulsa Police Department.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Jason A. Robertson accepted Burden's plea in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Following this acceptance, a presentence investigation report has been ordered.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua Satter.
