Bowling Green, KY – A Bowling Green man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for his involvement in a fentanyl distribution case. U.S. Attorney Michael A. Bennett of the Western District of Kentucky announced the sentencing alongside U.S. Postal Inspector in Charge Lesley Allison, Special Agent in Charge Rana Saoud, and Director Tommy Loving.

According to court documents, Faisl Alzharani, 27, was sentenced on December 2, 2024, to 10 years in prison with an additional five years of supervised release. His co-defendant Ahmed Al-Duliami, 25, received a seven-year sentence with four years of supervised release earlier this year on April 23. Both were charged with attempting to possess fentanyl with intent to distribute it.

The incident took place on August 11, 2022, when both men picked up a package they believed contained fentanyl. However, law enforcement had already seized the package and removed the substance.

The investigation was conducted by several agencies including the USPIS Louisville Domicile's Bowling Green Office and Homeland Security Investigations Bowling Green office along with the Bowling Green/Warren County Appalachia High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (AHIDTA) Drug Task Force.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark J. Yurchisin II prosecuted the case from the United States Attorney’s Bowling Green Branch Office.

There is no parole in the federal system.
