The next meeting of Utah's grand jury panel of judges is set for Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the Price 7th District Courthouse. The purpose of this meeting is to assess whether a grand jury should be convened based on evidence of criminal activity.
During the session, the panel will listen to individuals who claim to have information warranting the summoning of a grand jury. These proceedings are confidential, and all individuals providing testimony will be under oath. Testifiers must present evidence supporting their claims. Additionally, the Attorney General, county attorney, district attorney, or a special prosecutor can also present evidence of criminal activity. The panel will not consider disputes between private parties, civil matters, or issues subject to criminal appeal.
Individuals wishing to testify should contact Keri Sargent at (801) 238-7547 by noon on Monday, January 6, 2024. They will receive further instructions upon scheduling an appointment.
Special accommodations during the hearing require notification to panel staff at least three business days in advance. If no appointments are scheduled by the deadline, the meeting will be canceled without notice.
The current members of the grand jury panel include Supervising Judge Elizabeth Hruby-Mills from the 3rd District Court; Judge Roger Griffin from the 4th District Court; Judge Blaine Rawson from the 2nd District Court; Judge Matthew Bell from the 5th District Court; and Judge Paul Parker from the 3rd District Court. Further details about this panel can be found on Utah Court’s website or in Utah Code.
