The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania has announced the indictment of Janssen Rodriguez Velez, a 27-year-old from Mifflintown, on charges related to drug trafficking and firearms. The federal grand jury issued the indictment yesterday.
United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam stated that the indictment accuses Rodriguez Velez of conspiring to distribute and possess cocaine with intent to distribute it between February 10 and 29, 2024, in Mifflin, Pennsylvania. Additionally, he is alleged to have possessed a Taurus G39mm Luger pistol during his drug trafficking activities.
The investigation was conducted by the United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) alongside the Pennsylvania State Police. Assistant U.S. Attorney David C. Williams is handling the prosecution.
Under federal law, these offenses carry a maximum penalty of lifetime imprisonment, supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine. Sentencing occurs after a guilty verdict is reached in court, with consideration given to federal sentencing statutes and guidelines.
It is important to note that indictments are merely allegations. All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
