Attorney General Michelle Henry has announced the winners of the 28th Annual Drug-Free Calendar Contest organized by the Office of Attorney General. The contest, held in October during National Substance Abuse Prevention Month, invited fifth-grade students from across Pennsylvania to create artwork with a drug-free message. Thirteen winning pieces were selected for inclusion in the 2025 calendar, which is distributed statewide to raise awareness about the dangers of drug use.
"Our annual calendar contest is about celebrating the talents of our incredible students and empowering young people to make smart, safe choices," said Attorney General Henry. "Combating the addiction epidemic continues to be one of my top priorities, and a big part of our collaborative approach is education to deter young people from experimenting or trying illegal substances. This calendar allows our students to be leaders in conveying messaging that can save lives and keep people healthy."
The calendar features artwork representing each month created by Pennsylvania students, with one student's illustration chosen for the cover. Winners were selected from over 1,800 submissions received from 402 schools across 43 counties. The selection criteria included creativity, illustration skills, and incorporation of a drug-free message. Each winner receives a certificate and a $529 contribution to their Pennsylvania 529 College Savings Program.
The Community Drug Abuse Prevention Fund finances the contest through fines and penalties collected from offenses like driving under the influence. Throughout the year, agents and specialists from the Office of Attorney General visit schools to educate children on staying drug-free using customized lessons and interactive presentations.
