Eleazar Alfredo Gomez, a 32-year-old resident of Casa Grande and member of the Gila River Indian Community, has been sentenced to 58 months in prison. The sentencing was delivered by United States District Judge Douglas L. Rayes. Following his prison term, Gomez will be subject to three years of supervised release.
Gomez had pleaded guilty on September 10, 2024, to the charge of Felon in Possession of a Firearm. This marks his second conviction for firearm possession as a convicted felon.
The case dates back to July 23, 2024, when Gomez was found with a firearm despite having prior convictions for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Felon in Possession of a Firearm (CR-18-01086-PHX-DLR). For this offense, he received a sentence of 46 months. Additionally, he was given an extra 12 months for breaching the terms of his supervised release related to the earlier case from 2018.
The investigation leading to Gomez's arrest was conducted by the Phoenix Police Department. Raynette Logan, Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Arizona in Phoenix, managed the prosecution.
