Officer-involved shooting under investigation in Webster

The Wisconsin Department of Justice's Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting in the Town of Webster, Burnett County. The incident took place on the evening of December 16, 2024.

St. Croix Tribal Police Department officers responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence located in the 24000 block of Eagle Feather Drive around 5:55 p.m. Upon arrival, they encountered a male subject armed with a knife. An officer discharged their firearm, striking the individual. The subject was subsequently transported to a hospital in Minnesota where they remain under care. No other individuals were injured during this event.

The law enforcement officers involved have been placed on administrative leave as per agency policy and were equipped with body cameras at the time of the incident.

The DCI is spearheading the investigation with assistance from the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office, Burnett County District Attorney’s Office, and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. All involved law enforcement personnel are fully cooperating with DCI investigators.

As part of its ongoing efforts, DCI is reviewing evidence and establishing facts related to this case. Once completed, investigative reports will be submitted to the Burnett County District Attorney’s office for further action.
