Thomas O. Crowell, 35, from Canal Winchester, has been sentenced to 188 months in prison by the U.S. District Court for his involvement in narcotics, firearms, and financial fraud offenses. His conviction was secured by a federal jury in January 2024.
Known as "T-Mack," Crowell was identified as a significant drug trafficker in the Columbus area. His activities were investigated by several law enforcement agencies.
Court documents and trial testimony revealed that in June 2021, Crowell intended to distribute fentanyl, cocaine, and marijuana. A search of his residence uncovered fentanyl and cocaine concealed in a backyard grill. Additionally, drug packaging materials and cutting agents were found throughout the house.
Crowell also faced charges for illegally possessing firearms—a rifle and a Glock—despite being a previously convicted felon prohibited from owning firearms and ammunition.
Further convictions included wire fraud for obtaining COVID-relief Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) funds under false pretenses. He claimed ownership of a trucking business named "Thomas Crowell" to secure nearly $20,000 through a PPP loan application submitted in April 2021.
The sentence was announced by Kenneth L. Parker, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio; Daryl S. McCormick from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF); Columbus Police Chief Elaine Bryant; and Hilliard Police Chief Michael Woods. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Nicole Pakiz and Damoun Delaviz.
