Nominating petitions are now available for individuals interested in running for State Judicial Nominating Commissioner positions. The terms for these positions will begin on July 1, 2025, and end on June 30, 2031.

For those looking to obtain the full Notice of Pending Elections and the nominating petition, it is advised to visit the Iowa Judicial Nominating Commission website. This site also provides detailed information about the vacancies, legal requirements for serving on a commission, and election details.

While voters and nominators must reside in their respective congressional districts, Iowa law does not require candidates seeking election to the State Judicial Nominating Commission to live in the district they wish to represent.

Further insights into becoming a State Judicial Nominating Commissioner can be found by reviewing Article V, sections 15 and 16 of the Iowa Constitution as well as Iowa Code Chapter 46. This announcement has been issued statewide in accordance with Iowa Code section 46.9A.
