Attorney General Michelle Henry has announced the distribution of over $800,000 to more than 250 Pennsylvania consumers. These individuals were affected by unlawful "rent to own" contracts with Vision Property Management. The Office of Attorney General sent out checks following a consent decree with certain defendants approved earlier this year and a previous settlement with Archway Community Properties.
The recipients of these restitution checks are those who completed and returned a questionnaire to the Office of Attorney General. They have already been contacted and are expected to receive their payments within the coming weeks. In 2021 and 2022, approximately 250 consumers received deeds to homes under similar contracts as mandated by the Allegheny County Common Pleas Court. However, funds were not distributed to those who had already received home deeds.
The lawsuit remains active against Alexander and Antonio Szkaradek, identified as key figures in the Vision scheme, along with ACM Vision V, a subsidiary of Atalaya Capital Management accused of participating in and funding the alleged misconduct. The Commonwealth aims to secure further restitution and civil penalties from these parties.
Senior Deputy Attorney General Susan Apel continues to handle this case.
