Judge Frankie Moore of the Nebraska Court of Appeals has taken on the role of President of the Council of Chief Judges of the State Courts of Appeal. This leadership change was formalized at the Council’s annual conference in Monterey, California, where Moore was handed the ceremonial gavel by outgoing President Judge Mark D. Pfeiffer from Missouri.
Moore's presidency began on November 15 and will last until the next annual conference scheduled for fall 2025 in Washington D.C.
The Council, founded in 1980, is a national organization that includes judicial leaders from state appellate courts. It aims to enhance justice administration by promoting idea exchange, sharing best practices, and encouraging education on effective programs and fiscal responsibility in appellate courts.
Judge Moore has been with the Nebraska Court of Appeals since January 2000 and served as Chief Judge from 2014 to 2020. In recognition of her work as chairperson of Nebraska’s Self-Represented Litigation Committee, she received the Nebraska Supreme Court's Distinguished Judge for Service to the Community award in 2015. She is also a member of the Nebraska Access to Justice Commission.
Her new role as president highlights her commitment to advancing justice both within Nebraska and nationally.
