Louisiana man arrested for child pornography and animal abuse

Agents from the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation, under Attorney General Liz Murrill, have arrested a man from Gonzales on charges related to child pornography and animal abuse. Steve Gautreau, 70, residing on Adele Street in Gonzales, was taken into custody on December 4.

Gautreau faces six felony counts of "LA R.S. 14:81.1 Pornography Involving Juveniles" and seven felony counts of "LA R.S. 14:89.3 Sexual Abuse of an Animal." The investigation began following a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The arrest resulted from collaborative efforts involving the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation, the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Homeland Security Investigations. Gautreau is currently held at the Ascension Parish Jail. Details regarding his bond remain undisclosed as the investigation continues.
