Providence Judicial Commission announces nominees for justice court vacancy

The Providence Judicial Nominating Commission has announced four nominees for the justice court judge position in Providence, Utah. This position became available following the resignation of Judge Matt Funk earlier this year.

The nominees include Sean D. Brian, an attorney residing in Harrisville; Trevor L. Cook, who serves as both an attorney and a justice court judge in Rich County and resides in Nibley; Matthew D. Lorz, an attorney and justice court judge serving Hyde Park, North Logan, and Wellsville, residing in North Logan; and Jill Sanders, an attorney from Nibley.

A public comment period is open until December 13, 2024. After receiving application materials, Providence City Mayor Kathleen Alder will have 30 days to select a candidate. The selection must be ratified by the Providence City Council. Written comments about the candidates can be submitted to James Peters, Justice Court Administrator, via email at jamesp@utcourts.gov.
