The Lancaster County DUI and Adult Drug Court will hold a joint graduation ceremony on December 5, 2024. The event will take place at the University of Nebraska Law School in Lincoln, Nebraska, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Judge John A. Colburn will preside over the ceremony.
The graduation marks the culmination of an intensive program for participants who have undergone comprehensive behavioral health treatment and community supervision as part of their rehabilitation journey. These problem-solving courts offer an alternative path through the criminal justice system specifically for nonviolent offenders with drug-related charges.
Problem-solving courts aim to reduce recidivism and substance use among individuals by employing a specialized team approach within the court's existing framework. The courts strive to enhance public safety and support successful rehabilitation through validated assessments, individualized treatment plans, frequent testing, and other services.
