The Maryland Judiciary is set to announce the winners of its 17th Annual Conflict Resolution Day Bookmark Art Contest. The event has drawn 3,115 entries from students across 54 schools in nine counties and Baltimore City, along with four submissions from home-schooled students. The contest is organized by the Maryland Judiciary’s Mediation and Conflict Resolution Office (MACRO).
Chief Judge Matthew J. Fader of the Court of Appeals of Maryland will host a special celebration on Monday, December 5, to honor the participants. During this event, he will meet with students and their families to commend them for their creative contributions centered on preventing or resolving conflict.
Students submitted bookmarks that convey themes such as respect for others, inclusion, and self-acceptance. Prizes will be awarded to ten winners each in grades K-2, 3-5, and 6-8. Additionally, select bookmarks will be printed and distributed throughout Maryland to promote conflict resolution efforts. Fifteen honorable mentions will also be recognized.
The awards ceremony is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Maryland Judicial Center in Annapolis.
