Honorable Angela M. Eaves Justice | Ballotpedia

All active attorneys in Maryland are required to fulfill their annual compliance obligations by September 10. These obligations include paying the annual assessment, confirming their tax identification number if applicable, and submitting both a Pro Bono Legal Service report and an Interest on Lawyers Trust Account (IOLTA) report.

Attorneys who fail to pay the annual assessment by the deadline will incur a late fee. Additionally, not paying the assessment, failing to confirm their tax ID number, or neglecting to complete pro bono and IOLTA reporting may result in temporary suspension or decertification from practicing law.

Payments for the assessment can be made online or via U.S. mail with an invoice printed from the Attorney Information System (AIS). However, pro bono and IOLTA reports must be submitted online.

Further details about attorney compliance requirements and AIS can be found at https://mdcourts.gov/lawyers/ais.
