The Howard County District Court is set to hold a graduation ceremony for participants of its Adult Drug/DUI Court program. The event will take place on Wednesday, November 8, in Ellicott City, Maryland. Attendees will include friends, family, and former program participants.
The program is known for its rigorous approach that combines judicial oversight with intensive treatment and supervision. Howard County District Judge Ricardo D. Zwaig will preside over the ceremony.
Since its inception in 2004, more than 200 individuals have successfully completed the program. Maryland's first drug treatment courts were established in 1994 in Baltimore City Circuit Court and Baltimore City District Court. Currently, there are 53 problem-solving court programs throughout Maryland.
