Approximately 30 participants will be recognized for completing the Baltimore City District Court Re-Entry Project (DCREP) on Monday, October 21. The ceremony will be presided over by District Judge Nicole Pastore, who founded the DCREP in 2016. This initiative focuses on reducing criminal recidivism by offering defendants full-time job training and placement programs as a condition of their probation or instead of incarceration. Since its inception, around 150 participants have completed the program.
The event will include family, friends, judges, and prosecutors joining the graduates. Anthony Levine, Sr., a defensive back/linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens, will serve as the keynote speaker. Levine attended Tennessee State and is currently in his eighth season with the Ravens.
The graduation ceremony is scheduled to take place at 11:30 a.m. at the Eastside District Court Building in Baltimore City. Among those attending are Baltimore City District Judge Nicole Pastore, Administrative Judge Barbara Baer Waxman, and Judge Katie Murphy O’Hara.
Media interested in covering the event should contact Maryland Judiciary's Government Relations and Public Affairs via email or phone. Cameras are not permitted inside the courtroom during the ceremony; however, interviews can be conducted outside in the hallway. Judge Pastore will be available for interviews from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and consent should be obtained before photographing any individuals.
