Maryland Court of Appeals Chief Judge Mary Ellen Barbera met with young artists on December 13 at the Maryland Judicial College Education and Conference Center in Annapolis. The occasion was the 11th Conflict Resolution Day Student Bookmark Art Contest, organized by the Judiciary’s Mediation and Conflict Resolution Office (MACRO). This event honored students from kindergarten to eighth grade who demonstrated their artistic skills to highlight peaceful conflict resolution.

Chief Judge Barbera presented awards to 15 winners and acknowledged students who received honorable mentions. After the ceremony, she answered questions about her career from students and their families. In addition to honoring the winning entries, MACRO showcased many of the over 2,100 bookmarks submitted by students across the state.

A list of contest winners is available on the Maryland Judiciary website.
