The Clarence M. Mitchell, Jr., Courthouse in Baltimore City will remain closed for the rest of the week due to fire damage. The fire occurred in the building's basement on Tuesday evening, April 26, 2016. The Baltimore City Department of General Services has not provided a timeline for when the courthouse will reopen.

In response to the closure, court services and cases have been relocated to the Courthouse East building at 111 N. Calvert Street, directly across from the affected courthouse. Jurors involved in ongoing trials are required to attend as scheduled, while new jurors are not expected to report on April 28 or April 29.

Those with scheduled proceedings should verify if their hearings have been transferred to Courthouse East by calling 410-396-4916.

For further updates regarding court operations, individuals can refer to the “Closings/Delays” section under “Latest News” on the Maryland Judiciary website at www.mdcourts.gov. Updates will also be available on the Baltimore City Circuit Court website at www.baltimorecitycourt.org.
