The Clarence M. Mitchell, Jr. Courthouse in Baltimore is set to reopen on May 9, 2016, after being closed due to fire damage. The courthouse has been shut since April 27 following a fire that occurred the previous evening. The Baltimore City Department of General Services (DGS) is overseeing the restoration efforts and plans for operations to resume on the scheduled date.
In the interim, court proceedings and services such as licensure and weddings have been relocated to Courthouse East at 111 N. Calvert Street. Jurors involved in ongoing trials are required to continue reporting as directed by their trial judges. Those summoned for trials between May 2 and May 6 should instead go to The War Memorial Building at 101 North Gay Street.
Updates regarding the situation will be available under “Latest News” on both the Maryland Judiciary website and the Baltimore City Circuit Court website.
