Judges from across Maryland will gather on October 23-24 for the statewide meeting of the Maryland Judicial Conference. The event, held at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Prince George’s County, will feature Chief Judge Mary Ellen Barbera of the Maryland Court of Appeals delivering her State of the Judiciary address.
The conference agenda includes a range of issues. The opening remarks and business meeting are accessible to both media and the public, with registration and event identification badges required for entry.
During the business meeting, updates will be provided on Maryland Electronic Courts (MDEC), which was launched on October 14 in Anne Arundel County's District Court, Circuit Court, Court of Special Appeals, and Court of Appeals.
Additionally, the Maryland Access to Justice Commission will present its fourth annual Access to Justice Awards. Recipients include Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Pamela J. White; the Maryland Court Interpreter Program; the Alternative Dispute Resolution Division of the Maryland Court of Special Appeals; Mary Denise Davis from the Office of the Public Defender; Guy J. Guzzone from the Maryland House of Delegates; and the Maryland Legal Services Corporation.
