Baltimore celebrates drug court's 20th anniversary with guest speaker Harry Lennix

Maryland's first drug court marks its 20th anniversary this year. To commemorate the occasion, actor Harry Lennix, known for his roles in "The Matrix Reloaded," "The Matrix Revolutions," and the TV series "24," will speak at the Baltimore City District Court Drug Treatment Court's annual graduation on Monday, June 16. Lennix serves as an All Rise Ambassador for the National Association of Drug Court Professionals (NADCP) and is currently featured in NBC's "The Blacklist." His film credits include "Ray" and "Man of Steel."

The drug treatment court program integrates judicial oversight with intensive treatment and supervision. Judges Jamey H. Hueston of the Baltimore City District Court and Karen C. Friedman of the Baltimore City Circuit Court will oversee the graduation ceremony. U.S. Rep. Elijah E. Cummings from Maryland’s 7th District will deliver the keynote address.

Established in 1994, Maryland's drug treatment courts have grown to over 40 courts across the state.
