Attorney General Kris Mayes has expressed her views following the Arizona Senate's decision to repeal the 1864 abortion ban. In a statement, she described the vote as "a win for freedom in our state." She anticipates that Governor Hobbs will sign the repeal into law promptly.
Mayes also noted a concern regarding the absence of an emergency clause, which would allow the repeal to take effect immediately. Without this clause, there is a possibility that Arizonans could still be subject to "the near-total abortion ban for a period of time this year."
The Attorney General assured that her office is actively seeking solutions to prevent what she referred to as "this outrageous 160-year-old law" from being enforced.
