Attorney General Kris Mayes announced that the United States District Court in Arizona has denied Avid Telecom's attempts to dismiss and delay a lawsuit against them. The case involves Michael D. Lansky, L.L.C., doing business as Avid Telecom, its owner Michael D. Lansky, and vice president Stacey S. Reeves. Forty-nine attorneys general, part of the Anti-Robocall Multistate Litigation Task Force, filed the lawsuit in May 2023. They accused Avid Telecom of initiating and facilitating billions of illegal robocalls nationwide.

"Avid Telecom’s blatant disregard for federal and state consumer protection laws cannot and will not be tolerated," stated Attorney General Mayes. "I am grateful to the Court for denying the defendants’ attempts to dismiss or delay this case. We will continue to push to hold Avid and its owners accountable for allegedly facilitating the relentless barrage of robocalls harassing and annoying countless Arizonans."

The allegations against Avid Telecom include sending or attempting to send over 24 billion scam calls over four years. These calls involved scams related to Social Security Administration, Medicare, auto warranties, Amazon, DirecTV, credit card interest rate reductions, and employment opportunities. Despite being notified at least 329 times about these illegal activities on their networks, they continued transmitting such calls.
