The Minnesota Supreme Court's Chief Justice continues to endorse a grant program aimed at enhancing the safety and security of courthouses and facilities used for court proceedings. This initiative is supported by the 2024 Minnesota Legislature, which allocated $500,000 for the program.

Eligible applicants include county boards or local government entities responsible for maintaining courthouses or similar facilities. The grants are intended to fund security equipment, training, assessments, or projects that improve court facility safety. Applicants must provide a 50 percent cash or in-kind match from non-state sources equivalent to the requested amount.

Applications are open until August 26, 2024, and should be submitted to Jennifer Super at the State Court Administrator’s Office. An advisory panel comprising judges, court staff, county officials, and statewide justice partners will evaluate applications based on established criteria. The final decisions on awards will be announced in November 2024.

All necessary application materials and guidelines are available for interested parties.
