Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall has expressed approval of a court ruling that dismisses the Biden-Harris Administration's "parole in place" (PIP) rule. This rule would have allowed millions of illegal immigrants to bypass existing laws and gain permanent residency. The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas issued this final judgment following a lawsuit filed by a coalition of 16 states against the administration.

Attorney General Marshall stated, "It’s been a great week for America and the rule of law. The Biden-Harris regime did everything they could to circumvent or rewrite laws to fit their radical agenda, causing chaos at our border, and in our backyards. The courts and Americans saw right through these nefarious plans. Alabama is looking forward to January 20, and the bold leadership of President Trump."

The PIP program aimed to allow immigrants who have been unlawfully present in the United States for ten or more years to receive "parole" without leaving the country if they are spouses or stepchildren of U.S. citizens.

The Department of Homeland Security under President Biden claimed it had "unfettered discretion" regarding who can enter the nation without Congressional consultation. This program would have enabled over 1.3 million illegal immigrants already residing in the United States to apply for permanent residency. In their complaint, attorneys general argued that Congress has not authorized mass amnesty for illegal immigrants.

Attorney General Marshall collaborated with officials from Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, North Dakota, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Wyoming, and America First Legal in filing this lawsuit.
