A former Love County treasurer has been sentenced for embezzlement after pleading guilty to seven counts. Lory Hull, aged 46, entered a blind plea following her indictment by the Multi-County Grand Jury in August. The court issued a five-year suspended sentence and ordered Hull to pay restitution.
Attorney General Gentner Drummond commented on the case, stating, “This crime was particularly onerous because the embezzlement was at the hands of an elected official entrusted with the safekeeping of taxpayer dollars.” He also expressed gratitude towards Assistant Attorney General James Holian for his efforts in ensuring justice for Love County citizens.
The total amount embezzled by Hull was $21,499.13 over a three-month period during the summer of 2020.
