Epstein Becker Green (EBG) is proud to announce that it has received the “Tipping the Scales” award, for the fifth year, presented by the Diversity & Flexibility Alliance (Alliance) to a select 82 law firms in the United States. In furtherance of our ongoing commitment to advancing women in the legal profession, 50 percent of EBG's new partner class of 2024 was once again comprised of women attorneys.

Carrie Valiant, Chair of EBG's Diversity & Professional Committee, emphasized the firm's unwavering dedication to fostering an inclusive environment that empowers women to achieve leadership positions. “At EBG, we uphold a rich tradition of facilitating the progression of women to partnership and ensuring their rise within our ranks. We are committed to fostering professional growth and cultivating a path for excellence and success for every individual.”

Out of the major law firms surveyed by the Alliance, the 2024 New Partner Report revealed that the recognized firms are “Tipping the Scales” toward gender parity. We were thrilled to elevate Shannon DeBra (Health Care and Life Sciences; Columbus and Cincinnati), Marylana Helou (Health Care and Life Sciences; Boston), Kristi Jacques (Employment, Labor & Workforce Management; New York), Ann Knuckles Mahoney (Employment, Labor & Workforce Management; Nashville), Elena Quattrone (Health Care and Life Sciences; New York), and Elizabeth Torkelsen (Employment, Labor & Workforce Management; Stamford) last year, all of whom have excelled in their new role and continue to grow as leaders within the firm.

The firm’s Women’s Initiative and other training resources, such as the Associate Shadowing Program, provide professional support, mentorship, and coaching to help our women attorneys advance to partner and other firm leadership roles. We understand that the way to retain women is to invest in their careers, including business development training, networking, and making available key client opportunities. At EBG, we celebrate and emphasize gender diversity within the firm as part of our Core Values.

EBG was recognized at the Alliance’s annual conference in October 2024.

Since 2012, the Alliance has generated the New Partner Report, a yearly compilation and examination of the nation’s largest and top-grossing law firms, to uncover trends in the percentage of women promoted to partnership each year.
