A Ukrainian national has admitted guilt in a case involving conspiracy to defraud the United States and conspiracy to commit money laundering. Oleksandr Yurchyk, along with others, operated several labor-staffing companies in southern Florida from April 2008 to July 2021. These companies included Paradise Choice LLC, Paradise Choice Cleaning LLC, Tropical City Services LLC, and Tropical City Group LLC.

Court documents reveal that these staffing companies employed non-resident aliens unauthorized to work in the U.S., thereby evading federal income and employment taxes. Additionally, Yurchyk and his associates laundered over $11 million from their operations.

Yurchyk's sentencing is set for January 27, 2025. He could face up to 20 years in prison for money laundering conspiracy and five years for defrauding the United States. The final sentence will be determined by a federal district court judge after reviewing the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

The announcement was made by Acting Deputy Assistant Attorney General Stuart M. Goldberg of the Justice Department’s Tax Division and U.S. Attorney Markenzy Lapointe for the Southern District of Florida.

The investigation is being conducted by Homeland Security Investigations and IRS Criminal Investigation. Senior Litigation Counsel Sean Beaty and Trial Attorneys Matthew B. Hicks and Wilson R. Stamm of the Justice Department’s Tax Division, along with Senior Litigation Counsel Christopher J. Clark for the Southern District of Florida, are prosecuting the case.
