Former director accused of fund misuse at Winn Parish Council on Aging

Agents from the Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill's Office have arrested a former director of the Winn Parish Council on Aging. Jennifer Higgs, residing on Larry Bruce Road in Winnfield, was taken into custody on October 30. She is accused of misusing agency funds for personal gain.

According to the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation, Higgs allegedly misappropriated approximately $59,000 from the Winn Parish Council on Aging. The investigation revealed that she used various schemes to conceal her actions.

Higgs was arrested with help from the Winn Parish Sheriff’s Office and faces charges under several statutes: "LA R.S. 14:70.8 Illegal Transmission of Funds," "LA R.S. 14:72 (1) Forgery," and "LA R.S. 14:67B (1) Theft over $25,000.00." She has been booked into the Winn Parish Detention Center, with her bond set at $50,000.

The investigation remains ongoing.
