Attorney General Ashley Moody has shared safety tips for Halloween to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for Floridians. As families prepare for trick-or-treating or parties, Moody emphasizes the importance of vigilance.

"Halloween is an exciting time for many—from dressing up as your favorite character to distributing candy," said Attorney General Ashley Moody. "As a mother, I know that parents want their kids to have fun, but also be safe on Halloween. That is why I am issuing tips to help Floridians enjoy a night of all treats and no tricks!"

The safety recommendations include examining treats carefully before consumption, ensuring costumes are visible by using bright or reflective materials, carrying flashlights or glowsticks, being cautious of traffic by sticking to well-lit areas and crossing streets safely, staying in familiar neighborhoods while traveling in groups, and planning ahead for transportation if attending parties.

Moody also advises parents and guardians to visit FLSexOffender.net to review registered sex offenders along trick-or-treat routes. Florida law prohibits sex offenders from giving out candy or other items to children during Halloween.
