Stephen Nuciolo Jr., an 18-year-old resident from Bridport, Vermont, has entered a plea of not guilty to a charge of second-degree murder. This plea was made during his arraignment in Vermont Superior Court, Addison Criminal Division, overseen by Judge Robert Katims. The charge relates to the alleged fatal shooting of his father on January 24, 2024, in Bridport.

The court has set bail at $100,000 for Nuciolo, who can be released under certain conditions: either post bail or be released into the custody of a responsible adult at a pre-approved residence. The case will now be transferred to the Family Court to determine if Nuciolo is suitable for youthful offender status, a move that has not been contested by the Attorney General’s Office.

The Attorney General’s Office adds a reminder that "individuals charged with a crime are legally presumed innocent until their guilt is proven beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law."
