Cyber crime unit arrests man in Franklin Parish for child pornography

Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill's Cyber Crime Unit has apprehended a Franklin Parish resident on charges related to child pornography. The arrest took place on Wednesday, October 30.

David A. Punchard, 54, who resides on Highway 857 in Baskin, faces 20 counts under Louisiana statute LA R.S. 14:81.1 for possession of child pornography involving children under the age of 13.

The arrest stemmed from a tip received by agents from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The operation was conducted jointly with the Franklin Parish Sheriff's Office, Lincoln Parish Sheriff's Office, and Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office.

Punchard is currently held at the Franklin Parish Detention Center without incident. His bond is set at $200,000.

Authorities have stated that the investigation remains ongoing.
