Christopher Camp, a 33-year-old resident of Moretown, Vermont, has been arraigned on charges related to child luring and violating conditions of release. The Attorney General's Office announced that Camp faces one felony count of luring a child and four misdemeanor counts for violating release conditions. The charges stem from an investigation by the Vermont State Police, later referred to the Vermont Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (VT-ICAC), with support from Homeland Security Investigations and local police departments in Bennington and Manchester.
According to authorities, Camp engaged in sexually explicit conversations with minors using the Discord platform. Previously convicted of attempted child luring in 2019 in Washington County, Camp is currently under probation supervision with an additional violation charge pending. Since February 2024, he has been subject to court-ordered release conditions for possession of child sexual abuse material.
During his arraignment at Vermont Superior Court's Washington Criminal Division, presided over by Judge Michael Harris, Camp pleaded not guilty. He was assigned a $5,000 cash bail and given restrictions limiting his contact with minors and internet access.
The VT-ICAC is tasked with investigating online child sexual exploitation cases. They provide forensic services, technical assistance, law enforcement training, and public education outreach.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) serves as the central reporting system for online child exploitation incidents. Reports can be made via their 24-hour call center or through their website. NCMEC also offers support services for those recovering from such exploitation.
For further information or assistance regarding recovery from child sexual exploitation, individuals are encouraged to contact NCMEC through their hotline or website resources.
