The Supreme Court of Georgia is set to conduct its first day of November oral arguments at the Georgia State University College of Law on Tuesday, November 5. This event marks a continuation of the Court's tradition to hold special sessions at various locations, including law schools across the state, aiming to make the judicial process more accessible to the public. The last session held at Georgia State was in January 2016.

Chief Justice Michael P. Boggs expressed anticipation for the upcoming session, stating, "My colleagues and I look forward to hearing oral arguments at Georgia State’s College of Law. We hope that this on-campus session will allow citizens, and in particular law students, to observe our Court in action and better understand the role of the judiciary in our government."

During this special session, appeals in two separate criminal cases—Blalock v. The State (S24A1303) and Lewis v. The State (S25A0023)—will be heard by the Court. Proceedings are scheduled to commence at 10 a.m. Eastern Time following a brief attorney admission ceremony. The Court will continue its November oral argument schedule with another day of proceedings at its courtroom inside the Nathan Deal Judicial Center in downtown Atlanta on November 6.

Interim Dean Courtney Anderson highlighted the educational value of hosting such an event: "Hosting the Georgia Supreme Court at the College of Law is an incredible opportunity for our students to witness the workings of a court, observe expert attorneys present their cases and field questions from the Justices, and analyze the evolution from the written word to oral arguments."

The event will be available for viewing via live stream on the Court’s website at gasupreme.us.

Media representatives wishing to cover this event must submit a request form by Friday, November 1. For further inquiries about court proceedings or media-related questions, contact Public Information Officer Kathleen Joyner at joynerk@gasupreme.us.
