Judge Adrienne N. Young is set to be formally sworn in as a judge of the Michigan Court of Appeals in an investiture ceremony scheduled for Thursday, May 16th, 2024. The event will take place at the Oakland County Intermediate School District Building in Waterford, Michigan.
Chief Judge Michael F. Gadola, along with Judges Kristina Robinson Garrett and Sima G. Patel from the Michigan Court of Appeals, will participate in the ceremony. Judge Young was appointed by Governor Gretchen Whitmer following the resignation of Judge Elizabeth Gleicher.
Before her appointment, Judge Young served as an Assistant Defender at the State Appellate Defender Office (SADO). Her previous roles include serving as a law clerk at the Michigan Supreme Court and spending six years as an elected trustee on the Birmingham Public Schools Board of Education.
Judge Young also contributes to legal associations, acting as co-vice chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee of the Oakland County Bar Association. She is involved with several other organizations including the Oakland Region of the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan and the Straker Bar Association.
A graduate of both the University of Chicago Law School and the University of Michigan, Judge Young's appointment marks a significant step in her legal career.
