Attorney General Michelle Henry has announced the sentencing of Raymond Mikelonis, a 67-year-old resident of Clearfield County, to a prison term ranging from 15 to 40 years for child pornography charges. Mikelonis, hailing from Penfield, admitted guilt to felony charges that included possession and distribution of child pornography, as well as criminal use of a communication facility.
The judge presiding over the case on Wednesday classified Mikelonis as a sexually violent predator. As part of his sentence, he is required to register as a sex offender for life. This marks the third conviction for sexual abuse-related offenses for Mikelonis, who has prior convictions for child sexual assault and possession of child pornography.
Attorney General Henry emphasized the seriousness of the crimes: “This defendant has shown he is not amenable to treatment or reform and continues to abuse children, making him a danger to society,” she stated. “These videos and images perpetuate the abuse and corruption of minors, and my office will do everything in our power to protect children and hold abusers accountable.”
The investigation conducted by the Office of Attorney General revealed that files containing child pornography were being downloaded from an IP address linked to Mikelonis. A search warrant executed at his residence led investigators to discover these illicit files on his computer.
