Attorney General Kris Mayes has issued a warning to iDentidad Advertising Development LLC, also known as iDentidad Telecom, for allegedly transmitting illegal robocall traffic. The company has been urged to cease this activity immediately.
"My office will not tolerate companies that facilitate illegal robocalls, which annoy and harm Arizonans," said Attorney General Mayes. "If you route or facilitate illegal or suspicious robocall traffic, you will be held accountable. Along with my fellow attorneys general, we will continue to fight to protect consumers from spam calls."
Mayes is part of the Anti-Robocall Multistate Litigation Task Force, consisting of 51 bipartisan attorneys general dedicated to investigating and prosecuting entities involved in routing illegal robocalls across the United States.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) also sent a cease-and-desist order to iDentidad on the same day. The task force highlighted that iDentidad received nearly 200 traceback notices for calls routed to the U.S. telephone network originating mostly from outside the country. These calls were either illegal or part of suspicious campaigns, including scams impersonating government agencies like the IRS and Social Security Administration, utilities scams, and financial frauds. Recently, spoofed calls were routed by iDentidad impersonating the Illinois Attorney General’s Office.
Should iDentidad fail to halt these activities, legal action may follow from the attorneys general involved, potentially leading to damages, civil penalties, and injunctions.
