The North Dakota Supreme Court has announced the selection of law clerks for the 2025-2026 term, which will begin on August 1, 2025. The chosen individuals will serve a one-year clerkship with the court.
Alexander Hook from Fargo, North Dakota, has been selected. He holds a B.A. in Economics with minors in Mathematics and Political Science from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Mr. Hook is anticipated to receive his J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law in May 2025.
Peter Liffrig, hailing from Mandan, North Dakota, has also been appointed. He obtained a B.A. in Classical Languages and Early Christian Literature from Ave Maria University and is expected to complete his J.D. at the University of Nebraska College of Law by May 2025.
James Nicolai, who resides in both Ellendale and Fargo, North Dakota, is another appointee. He earned a B.A. from North Dakota State University in 1986 and graduated from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 1990. Mr. Nicolai is affiliated with various bar associations including those in North Dakota and Minnesota.
Katie Snyder from Minot, North Dakota, will join as well. She received her B.S. in Criminal Justice with minors in Sociology and Legal Studies from the University of North Dakota and is expected to obtain her J.D. from the same institution by May 2025.
Lastly, Haakan Thorsgard of Bemidji, Minnesota, was selected for the clerkship. He earned a B.B.A. in Economics from the University of Minnesota-Duluth and plans to receive his J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law by May 2025.
