North Dakota seeks assistant attorney general; applications open until October 31

The North Dakota Office of Attorney General is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Attorney General. The role, based in Bismarck, ND, offers a salary range between $81,000 and $120,000 annually, depending on experience. Applications will be accepted until October 31, 2024.

Mary Kae Kelsch, Director of the General Counsel Division, will oversee the selection process. The division provides legal services to over 70 state agencies and educational institutions. Responsibilities include offering legal advice to various state entities such as the North Dakota Public Employee Retirement System and reviewing complex contracts.

Applicants must hold or expect imminent licensure to practice law in North Dakota and ideally have two years of relevant experience. They should demonstrate high ethical standards and excellent communication skills.

The position includes benefits like health insurance for employees and their families and eligibility for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. It requires in-person work at the State Capitol.
