Nebraska trial judges have elected new presidents for their associations during the annual meetings held in late October. The newly appointed presidents began their terms on October 11, 2024, and will serve until October 2025.
The role of these judges' associations is to facilitate networking, problem-solving, and sharing innovations across the state. They aim to educate members on various issues at national, state, and local levels while discussing ways to improve efficiency within the Judicial Branch of government. Presidents of these associations collaborate closely with the Chief Justice of the Nebraska Supreme Court and the Administrative Office of the Courts and Probation.
Association presidents are supported by their elected executive committees and have authority to appoint specialized committees as needed.
In Nebraska, judicial power is distributed among several courts: the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, district courts, and county courts. All state courts operate under the administrative direction of the Supreme Court. Additionally, Nebraska's judicial system includes separate juvenile courts in Douglas, Lancaster, and Sarpy Counties along with a statewide Workers’ Compensation Court.
