Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill has successfully defended against a legal challenge from environmental groups concerning the state's oil and gas permitting decisions. The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals dismissed the Sierra Club's case, which contested Louisiana's approval of permits for an LNG export facility along the Calcasieu Ship Channel.
Murrill stated, "The law is clear, and once again, the hardworking people of Louisiana have been vindicated by the court. I will continue to defend our economy and the businesses and citizens of this State from baseless attacks by environmental activists—in lawsuits like this and others such as our lawsuit challenging the Biden Administration’s illegal LNG Export Ban."
The decision marks another win for Murrill in her ongoing efforts to protect state economic interests against what she describes as unfounded legal actions by environmental advocates.
