The Sarpy County Adult Drug Court is set to hold a graduation ceremony and celebration on Monday, October 21, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. The event will take place in the Sarpy County Boardroom located at 1210 Golden Gate Drive in Papillion, Nebraska. Judge Stefanie Martinez will preside over the ceremony.

This event marks an important milestone for graduates who have completed an intensive program that combines comprehensive behavioral health treatment with community supervision and accountability measures. The goal of this program is to help nonviolent drug-related offenders rehabilitate successfully through a specialized team process within the existing court structure.

Problem-solving courts like this one aim to reduce recidivism and substance use among individuals with substance use disorders by implementing validated risk assessments, early and individualized treatment, frequent chemical testing, as well as providing incentives and sanctions. These courts seek to protect public safety while increasing participants' chances of successful rehabilitation.

Heather Moran, the Problem-Solving Court Coordinator, can be contacted for interviews or additional information regarding the graduation ceremony. She can be reached at (402) 593-2199 or via email at heather.moran@nejudicial.gov. Court media credentials are preferred for attendance.
