Roderick Branscomb, a former program director at a methadone treatment clinic in LaGrange, Georgia, has been indicted on multiple charges of sexual misconduct. Attorney General Chris Carr announced the indictment, which includes counts of Improper Sexual Contact by an Employee in the First and Second Degrees and Sexual Battery. Branscomb allegedly engaged in sexual misconduct with seven female patients between April 2021 and November 2023.

Attorney General Carr emphasized the vulnerability of those seeking help for addiction: “Those who are struggling with addiction and brave enough to seek help should not be victimized when they’re at their most vulnerable.” He also praised the courage of the women involved in bringing these allegations forward.

The investigation was conducted by the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Division, FBI Atlanta, DEA Atlanta Division, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (HHS-OIG). FBI Atlanta Assistant Special Agent Sean Burke stated, “Today’s indictment underscores FBI Atlanta’s commitment to identify and investigate sexual abuse cases.”

Robert J. Murphy from the DEA Atlanta Division described Branscomb's actions as "heinous" and a betrayal of trust. Tamala E. Miles from HHS-OIG reaffirmed their commitment to protecting recipients from abuse.

Branscomb was taken into custody on September 26, 2024. The indictment includes nine counts of Improper Sexual Conduct by an Employee in the First Degree, four counts in the Second Degree, four counts of Sexual Battery, one count of Simple Battery, and three counts of Pandering.

Attorney General Carr's Medicaid Fraud Division has achieved significant results since his tenure began. The division has secured numerous convictions related to Medicaid fraud and abuse while recovering substantial amounts through civil settlements.

Indictments represent allegations that require proof beyond a reasonable doubt during trial proceedings.
