The North Dakota Office of Attorney General has announced an opening for the position of Assistant Attorney General. The role involves prosecuting criminal cases in state court and providing co-chair assistance to county state's attorneys upon request. The position includes drafting pleadings, attending court hearings, litigating criminal cases at trial, and handling subsequent appeals.

Jeremy Ensrud, Director of the Criminal Law Division, is the selecting supervisor for this full-time position based at the State Capitol in Bismarck, ND. In addition to prosecutorial duties, the attorney will offer legal advice to agents with the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation and teach various criminal classes at the Law Enforcement Training Academy in Bismarck.

The job offers a salary range between $81,000 and $105,000 per year and includes a comprehensive benefits package. This package features fully paid health insurance for employees and their families, options for dental and vision insurance, participation in the state NDPERS defined benefit retirement plan, and eligibility for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program.

Applicants must be licensed to practice law in North Dakota or expect imminent admission to the North Dakota Bar. Preferred candidates will have three or more years of prosecution experience. Other qualifications include high ethical standards, excellent communication skills, strong legal research abilities using Westlaw or Lexis, and effective interpersonal skills.
