The Deputy Clerk's responsibilities include assisting with case management activities across various types of cases from initial filing to final disposition. This includes making verbatim records using audio recording equipment when assigned, handling court operations such as scheduling and preparing court calendars, reviewing documents for conformity to court procedures, recording case proceedings into the case management system, processing court orders and notices, managing financial transactions like fees and fines, providing public assistance without giving legal advice or violating confidentiality laws, implementing court procedures during hearings, organizing daily cases for judges' sessions efficiently, searching criminal and civil records as needed, participating in jury program management for the District Court and ensuring quality maintenance of court records.

Additional duties involve accurately recording court proceedings through audio equipment either in person or remotely while creating annotations/tags and taking detailed notes during hearings. Travel within the unit may be required for some assignments.

Qualifications also require a valid driver’s license or equivalent mobility evidence. If assigned recording duties are included in their responsibilities; AAERT (American Association of Electronic Reporters and Transcribers) CER (certified electronic court reporter) certification is required within one year of assignment unless comparable certification by another state or federal court can be substituted.
