Corey Martin, a 26-year-old resident of Pownal, Vermont, was sentenced today in Vermont Superior Court, Bennington Criminal Division. Martin pleaded guilty to one felony count of possession of child sexual abuse material. Judge Kerry Ann McDonald-Cady presided over the case and sentenced Martin to 10 years of probation. The conditions include restricted internet access, limited contact with minors, and completion of sex offender programming.

The Attorney General’s Office announced that if Martin violates his probation terms, he could face up to three years in jail. Additionally, Martin must register as a sex offender for ten years following the completion of his sentence.

The Vermont Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (VT-ICAC) investigates cases involving child sexual exploitation over the internet. This includes the production and distribution of child sexual abuse materials. VT-ICAC also offers forensic examination services, technical assistance, law enforcement training, and public education.

"The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) is the nation’s centralized reporting system for the online exploitation of children," states the release. Reports can be made for suspected online enticement of children for sexual acts, child sexual molestation, child sexual abuse material, child sex tourism, child sex trafficking, unsolicited obscene materials sent to a child, misleading domain names, and misleading words or digital images on the internet. To report such incidents, individuals can call NCMEC's 24-hour call center at 1-800-843-5678 or visit https://report.cybertip.org.

NCMEC also provides support for those recovering from child sexual exploitation. "You do not have to navigate it alone," reads their statement. They offer emotional and peer support services, help with removing content from the internet, and assistance in finding mental health professionals.
